CITY OF KILLEEN POSITION DESCRIPTION

Lube Technician

Performs maintenance and repair work on vehicles and mechanical equipment serviced by the Fleet Services Division.

The employee will have the responsibility of:

·         Completing and evaluating preventive maintenance for all light duty vehicles, backhoes, refuse, trucks, excavators, loaders, dump trucks and other City owned rolling stock

·         Draining motor oil, changing oil filters, greasing chassis fittings, inspecting brakes and tops off fluids, coolant filters/flushes

·         Performing charging systems test and replacing batteries as needed

·         Operating a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools

·         Inspecting, servicing, and maintaining engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other components to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment

·         Mounting, balancing, and installing tires and wheels. Adjusting tire pressure/tire rotations

·         Providing road-call assistance to disabled equipment as needed and appropriate

·         Entering work order updates and progress in a computer-based maintenance program; recording of maintenance and repair work, including parts used and hours worked

The work environment will require the employee to:

·         Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

·         High school diploma or equivalent; and

·         One (1) year related experience; or

·         Any equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Requirements:

·         Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within ninety (90) days of hire

·         Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
