Provides advanced administrative support to the Recreation Manager such as event planning, managing and marketing programs and events, developing policies and procedures, and interacting with other city employees and citizens. Responsible for special and complex projects, studies and other functions as assigned by the Recreation Manager. Must interact frequently with the public and other City staff in a customer-friendly manner at all times.This information is intended to be descriptive of the principle duties and responsibilities of the position. - Performing a variety of responsible and complex administrative duties in direct support of the Recreation Manager.
- Coordinate the design and creation of necessary materials to market and promote programs and events to ensure maximum coverage and success.
- Assist with department sports, special events, and recreation activities.
- Assist with responding to public inquiries regarding programs, correcting problems and unforeseen issues, and working to provide positive public relations.
- Maintain accurate accountability for cash handling.
- Perform cost analysis for programs / events; prepare accurate financial records, activity reports, post event / program reports, and other required documentation as requested.
- Intern shall comply with all City policies for workplace conduct and follow reasonable instructions from supervising City staff.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- Proficiency in using computers and programs, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
- Knowledge of athletic / aquatic / recreation programming and special event planning.
- Ability to work with money; adding, subtracting, counting.
- Must be able to present a positive work attitude and exhibit a good public work appearance.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university or recent graduate within the last 6 months.
- Possession of a valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
Salary : $14
