The schedule for this position will be Monday-Thursday 6:00am - 3:00pm. Posted rates are for a 36-hour workweek. 

Position Function - Under the direction of the Director of Publics Works and/or Designee, performs assigned duties necessary to support the Street/Drainage division to ensure the proper construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, roadways, bridges, sidewalks, driveways, walking paths, curbs, gutters, storm drainage systems, and right-of-ways.










Essential Duties% of Performance 

 


Performs duties necessary to support the Street/Drainage Division to ensure the proper construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, roadways, bridges, sidewalks, driveways, walking paths, curbs, gutters, storm drainage systems, and rights-of-way.  Duties include but are not limited to: setting forms; pouring, shoveling, and finishing concrete work; raking asphalt; and pothole repaired (hot or cold patch). Responsible for appropriate signage and/or traffic markers, and other traffic control measures.70%


Performs duties to construct, repair, and maintain inlets, water feature structures, and storm flumes/structures.  Duties include, but are not limited to: installation, repair, and maintenance of storm pipes, inlets, baffle boxes, and bridges.15%


Assists with the proper maintenance of City grounds, retention ponds, rights-of-way, and common areas of City owned property and/or facilities, providing a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment.  Duties include, but are not limited to: trash/debris removal, post-storm clean up, painting, lighting, etc.  Responsible for safely using and proper care and maintenance of all tools and equipment necessary to complete projects, assignments, and/or tasks.10%

Hearing - construction site, phone, two-way radio, traffic, communication with co-workers, supervisor, and customers, etc.
Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling - set-up/tear-down worksite, construction, trash/debris removal, equipment maintenance/repair, manual labor, etc.
Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling/Reaching/Handling - Up to 100lbs - work aids, equipment, tools, materials, set-up/tear-down worksite, construction, trash/debris removal, concrete/asphalt work, etc.
Standing - Concrete/asphalt work, trash/debris removal, setting up/tearing down work area, etc.
Talking - Communication with co-workers, supervisor, and customers, two-way radios, phone, etc.
Vision - driving, equipment, hand tools, power tools, etc.

Heavy equipment, vehicle, hand-held and power tools and equipment, hard hat, safety and/or protective clothing (e.g., hardhat, goggles, gloves, ear, etc.), steel-toed or composite-toed safety boots/shoes, mobile communication devices, etc.
Environment
Duties are performed primarily within an outdoor environment or setting.  Possible exposure to electrical & chemical hazards; water; vibration; loud noise; inclement weather; and dust, allergens, mold, inclement weather/extreme temperatures, etc.
Requirements/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
 
Required knowledge and experience is normally obtained through the completion of a curriculum resulting in either a High School diploma or GED, and minimum of six (6) months' work of related experience in Construction, Drainage, Transportation, Utilities or related field are required.
Obtain Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) within three (3) months of hire. Obtain State Class A CDL within six (6) months of hire.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City employees and officials, and the general public.
Ability to take and follow oral instructions, as well as hand signals.
Ability to read and understand instructions and product directions.
Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to work during weekends and night-time events and hours of operations.
Skilled in operating ride and push mowers, graders, and hand-held and/or power tools.
Knowledge of trench procedures and safety.
Knowledge of logout/tagout procedures and safety. 
Must be able to work "on-call" or emergency hours.
Must be able to work outside normal business hours. 
Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner.
Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and/or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks.
