Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 3:00pm 

Posted rates are for a 36hour workweek.

 
 
Position Function - Under the direction of the Director of Public Works and/or Designee, performs assigned duties necessary to support the water and wastewater divisions by managing the daily tasks of related crews for the proper maintenance, repair, inspection and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure. Position is a "working" lead position that has the authority to supervise and direct crews.

Performs assigned duties necessary to support the water and wastewater divisions by managing the daily tasks of related crews for the proper maintenance, repair, inspection and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure (e.g., pipes, valves, hydrants, etc.). Responsible for the successful planning and completion of assigned projects. Duties include, but not limited to: work inspections, equipment and supply inventory and procurement, proper use and planning of equipment and materials, maintain workplace and work site safety, development of work orders, customer communications, etc. Position is required to perform all duties assigned to the crew he/she leads to include, but not limited to: manual labor, heavy equipment operation, etc.80%


Assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Responsible to fulfill duties of the foreman during his/her absence.15%

Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling/Reaching/Handling - Up to 100lbs - work aids, equipment, tools, materials, set-up/tear-down worksite, construction, concrete work, etc.
Standing - Concrete or asphalt work, setting up or tearing down work area, etc.
Talking - Communication with co-workers, supervisor, and customers, two-way radios, phone, etc.
Vision - driving, equipment, power tools, etc.
Walking - to and from shop, to and from buildings, at worksites, uneven terrain, etc.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and/or Work Aids

Heavy equipment, hand-held power tools and equipment, hard hat, safety and/or protective clothing (e.g., hardhat, goggles, gloves, ear, etc.), steel-toed or composite-toed safety boots/shoes, computer software and hardware, mobile communication devices, etc.









Environment
Duties are performed primarily within an outdoor environment or setting. Possible exposure to electrical and chemical hazards, water, sewage, vibrations, loud noise, inclement weather, dust, allergens, and mold.
Requirements/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Required knowledge and experience is normally obtained through the completion of a curriculum resulting in either a High School diploma or GED, and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in Water or Wastewater Utility, Construction or a related field are required.
One (1) year experience supervising multiple employees,preferred.
Valid State of Texas Class A CDL required.
Grade C Waster Distribution and/or Class II Wastewater Collection certifications, preferred.
Ability to use computer and video equipment to conduct pipeline inspections, to include the ability to produce reports.
Ability to read letters, emails, memos, contracts, professional and industry literature, spreadsheets, and other job related analysis.
Ability to write letters, memos, and emails.
Ability to exercise substantial independent judgment and decision-making.
Ability to monitor and assess operations, workload, projects, and staff performance.
Ability to multi-task, evaluate, analyze, and execute with widely varied tasks involving many complex and significant variables.
Ability to competently use work order systems and work related software and computer equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, other Federal, State, and local governmental representatives, contractors, consultants, vendors, media, and the general.
Ability to exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
Ability to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner.
Ability to read and understand technical instructions, maps and schematics.
Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials and practices with particular emphasis on underground utility construction and repair.
Thorough knowledge of work place safety practices and procedures, including but not limited to: lockout/tagout, sewer gas safety, etc.
Must be able to work "on-call" hours.
Must be able to work outside normal business hours.
Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and/or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks.
