About the Role
The City of Katy is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Part-time Permit Clerk to join our Permit/Inspection team. In this role, you'll serve as a key point of contact for residents, contractors, and visitors while supporting the processing of permits and daily administrative operations.
What You'll Do
- Deliver excellent customer service in person and over the phone
- Process permit applications, issue permits, and maintain accurate records
- Receive and reconcile payments, balance cash, and prepare deposits
- Schedule pre-construction meetings and coordinate appointments
- Track permit activity and notify contractors of expirations
- Perform clerical tasks including data entry, filing, and mail distribution
- Support overall office operations and assist with special projects as needed
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 2 years of customer service or clerical experience (municipal experience a plus)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency with computers and standard office software
Additional Details
- May require a valid Texas driver's license
- Work is performed in a standard office environment
- This role is designated as an Essential Critical Infrastructure position
