MECHANIC
The City of Johnstown is accepting applications for the position of Mechanic in the City garage. A mechanic performs skilled and routine tasks in the repair and maintenance of City motor vehicles and operating equipment.
This position requires a high school graduation or equivalent with completion of a high school or trade school course(s) in automotive repair and diesel, with knowledge of brake and air-brake systems, preferably supplemented by job related technical college courses; possession of ASE certifications preferred and two years' experience as a mechanic. Complete understanding of diesel and gasoline engines including repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance. Must be able to perform PA inspections and emissions. Possession of a quality set of tools is required.
This position offers an annual starting salary between $51,587.12 based on experience plus the standard City of Johnstown benefits package. Applications may be picked up in the Human Resources Office, City Hall, Room 105, 401 Main Street, Johnstown, PA 15901 during regular business hours and must be returned to the Human Resources Office by 4:00 PM, Friday April 24, 2026.
