General Statement of Duties
The City of Jerome is a dynamic organization which positively affects our citizens every day. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and manual labor tasks related to the maintenance, upkeep, and operation of City parks, facilities, and grounds.
Supervision Received
Works under the immediate supervision of the Parks Lead Operator.

Examples of Work (Illustrative Only) Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs general park maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and other groundskeeping tasks.
• Performs general landscape and cleanup duties such as trash and debris removal.
• Maintains park settings including trees, turf, playgrounds, athletic fields, and other landscaped areas.
• Assists with event setup and breakdown, including moving tables, bleachers, and equipment.
• Refurbishes and maintains park amenities such as benches, picnic tables, receptacles, playground structures, and signage.
• Uses a variety of hand tools and light equipment to perform tasks such as shoveling, raking, digging, and hauling materials.
• May operate light equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and small utility vehicles.
• Assists with irrigation system monitoring, minor repairs, and seasonal adjustments.
• Performs equipment preparation and minor preventive maintenance on tools and light equipment.
• Performs all duties with regard for personal safety and that of other employees and the public.
• Executes a variety of duties in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.
• Cleans park facilities, restrooms, and equipment as required.
• Operates power tools and City-owned vehicles.
• All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Working knowledge of general manual labor and groundskeeping tasks;
• Some knowledge of landscape maintenance practices and equipment;
• Knowledge of job safety and safety precautions related to parks and public works operations;
• Ability to operate hand tools and light equipment in a safe and effective manner;
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods in varying weather conditions;
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, Supervisors, and the public;
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Acceptable Education and Experience
• Must be at least 18 years of age;
• High school diploma or GED equivalent;
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or general maintenance preferred.
Essential Physical Abilities
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. In the course of lifting, the employee may frequently be required to bend or squat.
• The employee will be expected to perform work from an elevated position including climbing and working from ladders.
• The employee must be able to perform work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, and wind.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee must demonstrate adequate dexterity to handle tools and equipment and frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to outdoor conditions, including wet and/or humid environments.
• The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
