Purchasing Technician / Senior Purchasing Technician

The City of Jefferson is accepting application for a Purchasing Technician or a Senior Purchasing Technician. This position assists purchasing agent with administration of a centralized purchasing program designed to supply large quantities of supplies, materials, and equipment to City departments; reviews requisitions; prepares orders; awards some bids; manages contract listings and assists with disposal of surplus property providing Jefferson City with efficient supply procurement.

Reviews specifications; participates in accepting and analyzing formal and informal bids and recommends purchases; prepares correspondence relating to bids, specifications, quality, and delivery dates.

Purchasing Technician: 

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience  in procurement, accounting, or related field.

Accredited Associates' or technical degree in Business, Accounting or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience and one year of public governmental purchasing experience.

Physical: Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.

Mental: Ability to perform numerical detail work with speed and accuracy and make difficult mathematical computations with mechanical assistance; prepare clear and concise oral and written reports; exercise good judgment in developing recommendations, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other government employees and the public.

Specific classification level  and salary depend upon qualifications.  Minimum starting salary for a Purchasing Technician is $40,839 ($19.63 hourly) and maximum salary for a Senior Purchasing Technician is $64,321 ($30.92 hourly).
