What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plan Reviewer position at City of Jefferson?
The City of Jefferson is now accepting applications for a Plan Reviewer for our Public Works Department. This position utilize extensive knowledge of civil engineering codes and practices as it relates to the review of development plans including subdivision plats, streets and sanitary sewer improvement plans, and commercial site plans. Checks plan details for accuracy and compliance with City standards, codes and ordinances. Monitors, inspects and tracks inspections of storm water controls for compliance with the City's Municipal separate storm sewer system permit (MS4). Assists with investigations and tracking of storm water complaints.
Reviews engineering and development plans checking all calculations for alignments and design grades of streets, sanitary and storm sewers. Checks for compliance with City standards and codes. Checks traverse boundary closures of subdivision plats and lot splits.
Participates in the coordination of staff meetings with consultants and contractors.
Serves as Public Works representative to the Cole County Planning Commission for review of subdivision plats and sanitary sewer plans located in Cole County.
Maintains and develops databases to track inspections of storm water controls.
Provides City facility and policy information to consultants, contractors, and general public through the researching of permanent record files to help with preparation of plan submittal. Prepares written reports, aerial maps and sketches of utility locations.
Reviews and assists with acquisition of property for right-of-way and easements through County records and research of ownerships. Prepares visuals and written reports.
Assists engineering staff with design and technical details of capital improvement projects.
Physical: Ability to sit at computer and work efficiently for extended periods in the performance of site plan reviews; work in extreme weather conditions; traverse steep slopes and rough terrain.
Mental: Ability to concentrate on detailed plans for extended periods; make engineering calculations; retain and recall large amounts of technical information and effectively communicate information to contractors and the general public; research, gather, maintain and update official engineering records; review and inspect all submitted and/or newly constructed site plans, note changes or make revisions for compliance with City standards; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Requires a degree in engineering or a related field and four years' experience in engineering design or review of public works structures and improvements or equivalent education and experience.
Must have knowledge of engineering, drafting, and surveying practices and techniques and CADD software; and a valid Missouri Drivers' License.
