Facility Project Coordinator

If so, explore the exciting opportunity of becoming the Facility Project Coordinator with the City of Janesville (CoJ)! You will enjoy this role because you get the opportunity to:

  • Plan, direct, and oversee small to medium sized construction, renovation, and maintenance projects for CoJ-owned facilities.
  • Serve as a project manager which will include contract administration, quantity documentation, budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and conducting pre-construction and progress meetings for CoJ-owned facility projects.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee contractors installing, repairing, and maintaining major and minor CoJ facility components.
  • Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and contracts with consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Perform technical quality assurance, conformance inspections, and quality control of construction plans, specifications, and remodeling projects.

What qualifications are necessary for the role?

To be successful and well prepared for this position, the minimum education and experience required includes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, architecture, engineering, building construction, construction administration, project management, or related field is required.
  • A valid, state-issued driver’s license at time of hire is required

A combination of equivalent experience, education, or professional training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position as determined by the Human Resources Office may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements. 

What is the typical schedule?

Typically, you will work Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. However, at times, this position is expected to work additional hours to ensure projects and critical work assignments are completed.

What is the pay?

The starting annual salary for this position is $66,153 ($31.80 per hour); this is an exempt position. This position is also eligible for annual economic adjustments and performance-based adjustments, as approved by the City Council.

  • Paid Time Off: Generous amount of paid time off, right away! 
    1. Vacation: You will receive a prorated amount of 15 days – based upon the number of full months work to year end. On January 1 of the following year, you will receive the full 15 days. 
    2. Floating Holidays: You will receive a prorated amount of 3 days – based upon the number of full months worked to year end. On January 1 of the following year, you will receive the full 3 days.
    3. Exempt Days: As an exempt employee, you have the potential to earn up to 3 extra days off per year, subject to City Manager approval.
    4. Holidays: CoJ is closed for eight (8) holidays each year.
    5. Sick: You will earn 8 hours of sick time each full month worked.
  • Insurance: CoJ offers several insurance options, to fit your own personal needs!
    1. Janesville Health & Wellness Center: CoJ recently opened the Janesville Health & Wellness Center that offers a variety of comprehensive primary care services free of charge if you are enrolled in CoJ’s medical insurance plan or for a low cost if not enrolled in CoJ’s medical insurance plan.
    2. Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision insurance options, 
    3. Life Insurance: CoJ pays the basic premium for your life insurance; there are additional options you can enroll is as well. 
    4. Disability: Short-term and long-term disability coverage options. 
    5. Retirement: Notably, the City of Janesville is part of the Wisconsin Retirement System, recognized as one of the nation's best-funded and best-managed public pension systems, ranking as the 8th largest in the United States. For 2025, both the employer and employee contribute 6.95%, totaling 13.9% of earnings contributed each paycheck.

Furthermore, the City of Janesville strives to ease the transition between employers by minimizing the stress associated with gaps in insurance coverage. For new hires before the 15th of the month, medical, dental, and vision insurance become effective on the date of hire. For those hired on or after the 15th of the month, these benefits kick in on the 1st of the following month.
