- Education: High School diploma or GED.
- Experience: No previous experience is required.
- Certifications: None.
- Licensing: Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with a clear driving record.
Summary
The Kennel Technician position is a key role for our animal shelter facilities that provides daily care for our animals and assist with kennel maintenance. The position involves cleaning, bathing, grooming, exercising and feeding animals. The position is also responsible for cleaning cages, administering medication, and monitoring the behavior of animals. This role interacts with the other shelter staff, veterinarians, community members and supports our customer focused environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide support and care to animals.
- Work shift as assigned, weekends included.
- Cleaning dog kennels and cat room daily.
- Feed and water animals.
- Clean animals food and water bowls.
- Sweeping and moping when needed. Vacuuming rug in lobby.
- Sweeping and moping laundry room, keeping shelves straight and in order.
- Answer phone calls.
- Call dispatch for out going calls for service, record CFS number on call sheet.
- Take care of the public when walking in.
- Intake and out take of animals.
- Responsible for surrendering and adoption paperwork.
- Report to the Shelter Supervisor any concerns, health of animals or public concerns.
- On weekends, direct Community Service in feeding and disinfecting kennels and cat room.
- Clean and disinfect dog and cat quarantine rooms.
- Assist Shelter Supervisor and Animal Control Officers when needed.
- Assist with the oepration and maintenance of the Jacksonville Animal Shelter.
