In this role, you’ll take the lead in organizing and running our popular recreational Youth Basketball League – helping to supervise the overall program, coordinating specific leagues, supporting volunteer coaches, and mentoring both youth and adult staff. The position will work up to 40 hours per week over a 6-month timeframe from October 2025 – March 2026. This position requires Saturdays, as well as select weekdays, over the course of the season. - Ensure proper program procedures are followed, both about safety and program guidelines.
- Provide clear communication, both written and oral, to customers and internal partners.
- Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating basketball programs to achieve program goals.
- Prepares program sites for specific programs, moves equipment, sets up facilities required for program or event; assists with break-down and clean-up after programs.
- Supervise participants, coaches, and other Parks & Community Services staff.
- Assist in training and supervising basketball referees, site leads, and scorekeepers.
- Help develop, coordinate, and lead a continuous Basketball Referee Training Program and implement throughout the season, including regular feedback and check-ins with refs.
- Assist with the creation of schedules, recruitment and training of volunteers/coaches, and other administrative duties.
- Custodial tasks as needed.
- Ensure all Issaquah Parks & Community Services and Issaquah School District rules and policies are adhered to.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to pass a background check to work with children
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, parents, volunteers, and coworkers.
- Ability to lead referees, coaches, and other staff.
- Ability to assist in instructional tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work weekends or other irregular hours as necessary.
- MUST HAVE, or ability to obtain, CPR and AED Certifications.
- Familiarity with basketball, particularly for those working with older youths.
- Prefer applicants with enthusiasm for sports, basketball knowledge, and working with youth.
Salary : $20 - $28
