INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL JOB POSTING Position: Corrections Officer Department: Sheriff's Office Job Type: Part-time, up to 29 hours per week Work Schedule: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Candidates must be available to work various 12-hour shifts, which includes day, evening, overnight, holiday, and weekend hours. Anyone indicating limited availability will not be considered. Work Setting: On site and requires regular, in-person attendance FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Union: LELS Local 209 Non-Licensed Highlights: On-the-job-training Shift Differential Annual Uniform Allowance Compensation 2025 Expected 2025 Hiring Range: $26.11 - $27.84 per hour ($54,308.80 - $57,907.20 annually), depending on qualifications, relevant experience, and internal equity. Full Range: $26.11 $33.73 per hour ($54,308.80 $70,158.40 annually), with the potential for additional longevity-based pay. 2026 Expected 2026 Hiring Range: $27.02 - $28.81 per hour ($56,201.60 - $59,924.80 annually), depending on qualifications, relevant experience, and internal equity. Full Range: $27.02 $34.91 per hour ($56,201.60 $72,612.80 annually), with the potential for additional longevity-based pay. Benefits Isanti County offers part-time employees the following benefits on a prorated basis: Paid Time Off, including vacation, sick, and personal leave 12 paid holidays per year Deferred compensation plans Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) contributions from both employer and employee Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Employee Wellness Program General Definition of Work Performs work ensuring and maintaining the care, safety, and security for inmates and employees within the County jail facility, performing well-being checks for inmates in custody, enforcing rules and regulations, preventing disturbances, assaults, and escapes, and inspecting facilities, performing a variety of physical safety checks such as searching for contraband, looking for signs of vandalism, structural damage and other rule violations, preparing and maintaining a variety of files and records, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Jail Administrator. Oversight is exercised over assigned personnel. Essential Functions - see job posting Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Any combination of general work experience or post high school education that equals two years. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be certified, or ability to obtain certification, in CPR and basic life saving techniques and First Aid. Pass a criminal history background investigation. Special Qualifications May require possession of, or ability to obtain, specific licenses and/or certifications depending on departmental assignment. Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for position. Two-year community college degree or vocational degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, police science or related field is preferred. Working Conditions Physical Requirements and Activity This work requires the regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, frequent xertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions, frequently requires standing, pushing or pulling and lifting and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and tasting or smelling. Specific vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust to focus required. Sensory Requirements Work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound. Sensory Utilization Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities. Environmental Conditions Work regularly requires exposure to wet humid conditions (non-weather) and exposure to blood-borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment, frequently requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electrical shock; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Tools and Equipment Used: Transport squad or other vehicles used for inmate transport purposes. Radio, handcuffs, pager, first aid equipment, shackles, chemical agents, chair restraint, radio, flashlights, and tasers.
