What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permit Specialist position at City of Irving?

Duties include issuing building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits; reviewing plans for fences, signs, etc.; conferring with other departments in regard to plan review, permit issuance and utilities services; conducting research; maintaining related databases, records and files; and handling requests for information and complaints pertaining to permits, code/zoning and certificates of occupancy. Duties also include answering the phone and assisting with other general clerical tasks. A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of customer service experience are required; building methods blueprint reading experience beneficial. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills beneficial. 

PAY GRADE GG12 / FULL PAY RANGE $19.80 - $27.92 PER HOUR

The mission of the Inspections Department is to serve developers and contractors in meeting their goals and to verify code and ordinance compliance to protect the public. The Inspections Department issues building and related permits and inspects both new construction and remodels.

Salary : $41,184 - $58,080
