Duties include administering and securing the City's email and messaging infrastructure across on-premises and cloud platforms; managing public DNS records, external domain configurations, and SSL/TLS certificates to ensure secure, trusted access to internet-facing services; and supporting email authentication and fraud prevention through SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. The position administers core security platforms—including endpoint detection and response, ransomware protection, and email security awareness tools—and monitors and responds to alerts from the City's Managed Security Operations Center (SOC) partner, performing triage, coordinating remediation with internal teams, and helping protect critical infrastructure. Additional duties include assisting in the design, implementation, and management of network infrastructure such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks; administering physical and virtual servers and the operating systems and software they host; enforcing security measures that protect the City's IT infrastructure against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other threats; collaborating across IT Department divisions to develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity strategies; and coordinating with vendors and third-party providers for hardware and software procurement, support, and maintenance. A Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field and two years of experience are required. Certifications such as CompTIA Security , CompTIA Network , CCNA, or Microsoft security/identity certifications (e.g., SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500) are highly desirable. Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure) is a plus. This position requires access to criminal justice information; the selected candidate will be subject to a CJIS criminal history check and must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered. CJIS Security Awareness Training must also be completed upon hire. A résumé must be submitted with the application.
