The City of Irvine seeks candidates to provide daily care and enrichment for shelter animals. Candidates will assist with adoption counseling, behavioral assessments of shelter animals, and customer service. This position is Part-time, up to 19 hours per week.

The ideal candidates possess a high school diploma or equivalent and some experience caring for or handling animals, preferably at an animal shelter.
Part-time Hourly Range
Office Assistant III- $22.09 - $29.02
Hours: Varying shifts, Monday through Sunday, up to 19 hours a week. Weekend and holiday availability required.

Interview: After a thorough review of applications, those candidates deemed most qualified as reflected in their application will be invited to an interview.
Background Check: A thorough background investigation will be conducted prior to appointment.
Medical Examination: A medical examination will be conducted, including a drug screening and proof of a negative TB test to ensure the ability to perform assigned duties. Please note: Although Proposition 64 legalized the personal use of marijuana in California, marijuana is a prohibited substance in the workplace. Marijuana detected in pre-employment drug screening may result in disqualification from employment based on applicable laws.
Future Vacancies: This recruitment may be used to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.
Part-time employees are employed "at will" and their services can be discontinued without cause.
Certain City budgets may not include funding for mandated CalPERS employer contributions. A qualified candidate who is a current member of CalPERS may be restricted from temporary/part-time employment.
