Salary Range: $57,553.60 - $73,840.00 (starting wage contingent upon experience)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 2:30pm - 11:00pm
Job Summary
Under general direction, performs basic service, maintenance and repairs of vehicles and
equipment in the City municipal fleet.
Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
Associates degree from an accredited educational institution; or two years of related
experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in
Automotive/Diesel Mechanics. Experience in auto/diesel mechanics, fleet maintenance, or
related. Forklift certification required within 60 days of hire. Valid State of Iowa drivers license
with a satisfactory driving record. Satisfactory driving record. Valid State of Iowa commercial
drivers license instruction permit upon first day in position. Valid State of Iowa Class B
commercial drivers license with air brake endorsement within 6 months of hire. Meet federal
drug testing requirements. Requires a pre-employment drug screen. Must be 18 years of age.
Must pass criminal background check.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
Associates degree from an accredited educational institution and one year of related
experience; or three years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education
and experience.

Entry-level Driver Training (ELDT) for employees who need to obtain a required Commercial
Drivers License (CDL) is provided by the City. Employees are provided paid time to complete
ELDT and to take required CDL tests. Information on how to obtain an Iowa CDL including the
CDL manual and practice test are available on the Iowa Department of Transportation website.
