The purpose and mission of the Marion County Community Corrections Agency is to improve the lives of citizens in Marion County through community supervision, as an alternative to incarceration, utilizing evidence-based practices and comprehensive case management while cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for our workforce to meet the needs of the citizens of Indianapolis and Marion County.


Job Summary

Position is responsible for overseeing and supervising up to 350 residents of Duvall Residential Center (DRC). This position assists the Shift Team Leader in supervising and leading the team members on each shift. Incumbent is responsible for shift operations when the Shift Team Leader is not available Incumbent in this position is responsible for the day-to-day security and operations related to DRC. The incumbent has a wide latitude to make decisions related to public safety, team members safety, combined with offender safety and accountability to records management, maintenance and retention, dissemination of customer information and administrative services. The incumbent operates within wide range of discretion on matters such as hiring or terminations and may deviate from standards as established within the appropriate policies, procedures and laws. Freedom to use judgment while assisting in policy formulation and negotiations. This position reports to Team Lead, Corrections.

  • Responsible for the daily supervision and security of clients and team members
  • Responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are properly enforced and are consistent with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Assists the Shift Team Leader in supervising shifts and operates as the Shift Team Leader in their absence
  • Ensures internal and external problems, conflicts, and issues are dealt with appropriately using investigation, fact finding, interviews, and analysis of information
  • Ensures the implementation and adherence to evidence-based practices for Community Corrections, including vendors
  • Ensures the implementation of Continuous Quality Improvement processes or plans for Community Corrections
  • Confidentiality is to be maintained at all times

High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the criminal justice system or corrections. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Skilled in establishing cost effective programs and quality control. Position requires knowledge and abilities in leadership, management, contracts, personnel and process performance measurement, investigative principles and practices used in ensuring compliance with appropriate state and federal laws, regulations and requirements of court evidence. Must be able to train, advise and assist the team members and public in all aspects of the agency. Must interface with the public regarding procedures. Must be able to interpret and explain court decisions to clients and others, municipal boards or committees, and managers. Must have and maintain valid driver’s license.  

Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications

Associates degree in Criminal Justice or equivalent with one (1) year experience in the criminal justice system or corrections. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Skilled in establishing cost effective programs and quality control. Position requires knowledge and abilities in leadership, management, contracts, personnel and process performance measurement, investigative principles and practices used in ensuring compliance with appropriate state and federal laws, regulations and requirements of court evidence. Must be able to train, advise and assist the team members and public in all aspects of the agency. Must interface with the public regarding procedures. Must be able to interpret and explain court decisions to clients and others, municipal boards or committees, and managers. Must have and maintain valid driver’s license.
