What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Data Specialist-Res position at City of Indianapolis and Marion County?
The position requires the knowledge of established laws and IAAO standards, which control most of the actions in this position. Independent judgment, subject to supervisory oversight, is used when there are no available policies and procedures. Other duties and tasks are routine in nature and performed under moderate supervision following standard procedures. Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license. Position reports to District Manager of Residential.

The purpose and mission of the Marion County Assessor’s agency is to provide the city, county, and townships located in the city with information regarding how property values are assessed. Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year’s prior work-related experience are required. Applicants must be certified by the DLGF as a Level II Assessor/Appraiser Certification or be willing to earn that certification within 12 months of hiring. Effective project management, computer, math, geometry, and communication skills are required. Knowledge of imaging systems and other software is required. Applicants must have the ability to assist customers in a professional and courteous manner, whether it’s face-to-face, by email, or over the telephone. The position requires attention to detail and candidates must be able to type, create, and edit reports as needed, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. All activities must comply with state law. Bilingual preferred.
Essential functions are preformed approximately 50% in a standard office environment without exposure to adverse conditions. The remaining 50% require travel and outdoor work with exposure to adverse conditions.Physical Conditions

- Some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10) pounds
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at keyboard or workstation
