Basic Function
Under direction, on an assigned shift, maintains and operates a water
plant and assists in the care and maintenance of plant equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Performs minor and standard laboratory tests as required
Monitors and maintains levels of chemicals
Flushes plant system
Inspects and performs minor repairs and maintenance to plant equipment
and related facilities
Prepares various reports
Maintains plant buildings and grounds
Performs additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Some knowledge of the methods, equipment, materials, and terminology
used in the operation and care of plant equipment
Ability to assist in the repair and overhaul of plant equipment
Ability to read gauges and recording devices
Ability to keep routine records
Ability to use a wide variety of hand tools
Ability to follow written and oral directions
Knowledge of basic principles of chemistry
Ability to make arithmetic calculations
Education and Experience
Completion of high school or GED required; associates degree preferred
One year of experience in operation and maintenance of a water plant or
system required
Special Requirements
A current Kansas drivers license
Certification as a Kansas Class I or II Water Treatment Operator
Compliance with state mandated continuing education requirements
Must be available to work nights, in shifts, overtime, and weekends
Physical Requirements
Intense physical effort is required. Individual must be able to sit,
stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach,
handle, grasp, speak, and listen for extended periods of time.
Working Conditions
Work involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires
following basic safety precautions.
SALARY RANGE: The salary range for this position is \$19.05 to \$27.62
Per Hour Plus Benefits, Depending On Experience.
