Job Overview
At will position, reports to the Parks and Recreation Director. Under supervision, this position performs work leading, coordinating, and supervising recreation activities, programs, and facilities. Management of the Independence Baseball/ Softball Complex concessions stand seasonally and management of the Falcon Civic Center memberships and registration software.
Duties
- Responsible for the operation of the Independence Baseball/ Softball Complex concession stand.
- Manage, direct, and lead staff to conform to all health and safety standards.
- Responsible for the daily cleaning of concessions, restrooms, and food storage equipment.
- Lead efforts to develop a consistent and profitable concessions menu.
- Work with Assistant Director of Recreation & Aquatics to facilitate, add, and enhance recreational opportunities to the community.
- Enforces all rules, regulations, and policies set forth by the Independence Parks and Recreation Department, Buchanan County Health Department, and the Iowa Department of Public Health.
- Ensure that all records pertinent to the operation of the facility are properly and accurately maintained.
- Supervise temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees.
- Plan and develop work schedules for temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees.
- Coordinates various recreational and sports leagues, including but not limited to soccer, basketball, pickleball, adult programming, and athletic special events. Duties to include instruction, supervision, scheduling, standings, and tournament pairings.
- Manages the online registration system including Falcon Civic Center membership processes.
- Assist in the preparation of the Parks & Recreation budget.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Leisure Services, or in its absence a combination of professional or technical education, specific work experience, or relevant qualifications that demonstrate a similar level of knowledge. One year of experience in a related field and/or a combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Requires possession of a valid State of Iowa Driver’s license. Possess current CPR and First Aid Certifications. Ability to attain ServSafe certification within 6 months of employment.
