What are the responsibilities and job description for the Zoo/ Funland Guest Services Lead position at City of Idaho Falls?
The City of Idaho Falls is accepting applications for Seasonal Zoo/Funland Guest Services Lead. This position performs support for cashiering and related guest service duties at the Idaho Falls Zoo and Funland at the Zoo including providing high quality customer service, support of Zoo and Funland Guest Services cashiers, and fills in as needed for daily duties.
Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled lead duties in Zoo admissions, merchandise and food purchasing, gift sales food preparation and sales, and special event coordination; also supports operations at Funland at the Zoo. Maintains professional standards in customer service and offers some staff supervision.
This position is temporary in nature and typically works approximately 30 hours per week including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Zoo Guest Services Manager
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Supports Guest Services Manager in oversight of seasonal staff in the Zoo and Funland Guest Services including admissions, gift shop, food concessions, and Funland at the Zoo
Other duties as assignedEducation and Experience:
A. Graduation from standard high school, or GED
AND
B. At least one (1) year of progressively responsible work experience related to the above duties; previous customer service and shift lead experience highly desirable
OR
C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
MUST be available to be scheduled any/all 7 days per week. Schedule frequently includes weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings. Must exhibit excellent customer service skills and be able to work both as a team and independently. Must follow all zoo safety protocols and procedures. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Must possess a valid Idaho State Driver's License.
Must be able to obtain ServSafe Food Manager Certification
Final candidates will be subject to a background check prior to employment. Candidates under 18 years of age will require a parent or guardian signature on the background check form.

Physical demands include walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc. Talking, hearing, reading, and seeing required in the daily performance of job duties. Exposure to weather, environmental hazards and dangers resulting from working around dangerous animals and equipment are moderate. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and creative problem solving.

Sets up daily work for cashiers and food servers. Fill in as needed for Guest Services staff.
Interact with and assist Zoo guests in a positive manner; maintain standards of guest service quality.
Handle and count money; balance a daily till; compile and submit deposits; maintain detailed cash/deposit records.
Support Guest Services Supervisor to order and stock merchandise, food, and operational supplies; work on computerized/on-line ticketing and inventory system.
Assists in the coordination and implementation of special events. Work with Membership Coordinator to facilitate membership transactions in admissions/gift shop.

- Knowledge of retail sales, customer service, food preparations and sales, and equipment operation
- Ability to generate daily retail and/or admissions financial records
- Knowledge of cash handling; knowledge of mathematical skills to interpret financial information such as deposits, ordering stock, etc.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, fellow employees, the public and Zoo volunteers; ability to follow verbal and written instructions and ability to give verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of the Spanish language (speaking) is also highly desirable
- Ability to be self-motivated, possess a positive attitude and work with little supervision. Willingness to work in high-traffic demanding environment
