About our Department:
The goal of Public Transportation is to provide adequate and efficient community transportation services for the general public.
Vehicle Maintenance & Services Coordinator Position Overview:
This is administrative and specialized work in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of vehicles used in the Public Transit Department. Work involves responsibility for coordinating a preventive maintenance schedule and coordinating repair and inspection programs to ensure that public transit vehicles receive regular preventive maintenance as prescribed by the manufacture and that repairs are scheduled and completed in a timely manner. Work also involves inspecting licensed taxicabs and limousines operating in the city to ensure compliance with city ordinances regulating such vehicles. Supervision is exercised over the maintenance laborer.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency and considerable experience in vehicle maintenance and repair or fleet management. A minimum of ten years of experience is desired and/or a vocational degree in auto mechanics.
Valid Driver's License
Valid Commercial Driver's License Class B Passenger Endorsement desired
Must pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Passenger Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date.
Must pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within eleven (11) months of hire and/or promotion date.
Freon Certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire or promotion date.
ASE Certification in Brakes, Suspension, and Steering and ASE Diesel Engines is required or must be obtained within eleven months of hire or promotion date.
