About our Department:
The mission of the City of Huntsville Traffic Engineering Division is to provide for the safe and efficient movement of pedestrians, bicyclists, and motor vehicles through the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of traffic control systems. Our staff continually works to upgrade andmaintainall signs, signals, and pavement markings at all intersections and roadways within the City of Huntsville.
Traffic Engineer I Position Overview:
This is journey level professional and administrative work in addressing traffic and transportation issues and planning, designing and inspecting according to applicable laws, regulations, and standards and evaluating traffic engineering and other transportation projects. Work involves developing systems and plans to facilitate efficient and safe traffic movement and control, prevent accidents, and ensure ample street lighting is provided.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Traffic Engineering from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
E.I.T. Certificate in the State of Alabama or E.I.T within eighteen (18) months of hire date.
Valid driver's license and good driving record
Desired Qualifications:
Two (2) years of progressive civil engineering or Traffic engineering experience is desired.
