WORKDAYS & HOURS: MONDAY - FRIDAY 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.*
Requires lifting of moderately heavy items weighing up to 40 pounds. May experience long periods of walking and standing on rough surfaces. May be exposed to various weather conditions on outside assignments.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Political Science, Psychology or a closely related field.
Experience Requirement
Six years of pertinent, progressive professional experience in personnel, administration, accounting or a closely related field are required.
A Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a field closely related to the work being performed may be substituted for two years of experience.
Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

- Assist with oversight and management of the department’s sponsorship development program, marketing and publicity for all events. Review, evaluate and negotiate proposals for sponsorships and agreements with the private sector that are beneficial to the City.
- Identify and facilitate new opportunities and funding sources to encourage, promote and execute the Mayor’s Civic Celebration Program.
- Identify and negotiate cash and in-kind sponsorships and media partners for special events.
- Pursue event marketing and public relations opportunities beneficial to the City.
- Represent the Director and act as liaison to other departments, government agencies and private sector organizations.
- Coordinate sponsorship activities, including: technical and creative writing of sponsorship proposals to fund a variety of special events and activities for the office; identify and meet with potential sponsors to present sponsorship packages; budgeting and researching for the office about event sponsorship.
- Evaluate and provide recommendations to the Director regarding requests for co-sponsorships.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities to market and promote the City of Houston programs and services through events held in public spaces.
- Serve as graphic liaison by approving and processing graphic requests.
- Coordinate the production of special events flyers, brochures, posters, and other related material for public distribution.
- Perform price research and preparation of purchase requisitions for office printing as well as supplies and services.
- Serve as liaison to vendors for print projects, ensuring all print requirements are met.
- Research data and compile reports, surveys, studies and inventory data.
- Perform research to investigate and evaluate market opportunities for the city.
- Assist in the development of sponsorship proposals
- Contract entertainment for produced and sponsored events, as needed.
- Assist in the production of special events assigned.
- Assist in the execution of the Mayor’s Civic Celebration Program, including promotion of the performing and visual arts.
- Performs other duties as assigned
