Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on equipment and systems at water and wastewater treatment plants. Responsible for servicing and operating mechanical and electrical systems, maintaining plant grounds and structures, and supporting the safe and efficient operation of treatment facilities. Assists with plant operations as necessary tasks arise. Participates in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule for emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and operate plant equipment including pumps, motors, valves, bar screens, and clarifiers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks as needed.
  • Maintain records in the Cartegraph work asset management system.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and service manuals.
  • Complete work orders in Cartegraph OMS and related documentation.
  • Manages City records in accordance with City ordinances and Records Management Program.
  • Support field testing and equipment performance verification.
  • Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; assist in ordering and pickups.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating maintenance projects, including specifying parts and equipment.
  • Enter confined spaces and follow safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
  • Maintains equipment controlled by SCADA computer system.
  • Perform general building and grounds maintenance, including some janitorial duties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Marginal Duties:

  • Assists with field operations support and equipment maintenance as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

·        High school graduation or GED.

·        Valid Texas Driver’s License

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

·        CDL (Class A or B) with tanker endorsement preferred or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire.

Must be able to:

·        Lift and move up to 100 lbs.

·        Perform moderate to strenuous physical tasks.

·        Stand, walk, climb, crawl, bend, twist, squat, and kneel.

·        Use hands and arms to operate tools and equipment.

·        See clearly at various distances and adjust focus.

·        Work involves repetitive motion, full-body movement, and occasional awkward positions.

 

Work Environment:

Frequently exposed to:

  • Loud noise, vibrations, and hazardous materials (dust, gas, chemicals, bacteria).
  • Outdoor elements and variable weather conditions.
  • May work in confined spaces and stressful or high-risk situations.
  • Requires adherence to strict safety procedures.
  • May require night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Subject to random drug/alcohol testing as this is a safety-sensitive position.

This position is a safety-sensitive position.  All safety-sensitive positions require selected candidates to undergo and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check to include, criminal background, driving record, drug testing, and physical examination.  Individuals holding this position will be subjected to random drug/alcohol testing on a regular basis.

Compensation for this position is dependent upon qualifications.

All job offers are contingent on a background check which includes a criminal background and driver license check.  For this position, the job offer will also be contingent on a pre-employment drug test.

Salary : $24 - $30
