What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Maintenance Operator position at City of Horseshoe Bay?
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on equipment and systems at water and wastewater treatment plants. Responsible for servicing and operating mechanical and electrical systems, maintaining plant grounds and structures, and supporting the safe and efficient operation of treatment facilities. Assists with plant operations as necessary tasks arise. Participates in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule for emergency response.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and operate plant equipment including pumps, motors, valves, bar screens, and clarifiers.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks as needed.
- Maintain records in the Cartegraph work asset management system.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and service manuals.
- Complete work orders in Cartegraph OMS and related documentation.
- Manages City records in accordance with City ordinances and Records Management Program.
- Support field testing and equipment performance verification.
- Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; assist in ordering and pickups.
- Assist with planning and coordinating maintenance projects, including specifying parts and equipment.
- Enter confined spaces and follow safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
- Maintains equipment controlled by SCADA computer system.
- Perform general building and grounds maintenance, including some janitorial duties.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Marginal Duties:
- Assists with field operations support and equipment maintenance as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school graduation or GED.
· Valid Texas Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
· Five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· CDL (Class A or B) with tanker endorsement preferred or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire.

- May require night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Subject to random drug/alcohol testing as this is a safety-sensitive position.
