What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Reserve position at City of Hopkins?
Since 1968 the Hopkins Police Reserves have assisted the Police Department in a variety of functions. This diverse group of individuals is dedicated to the community, collectively donating a significant amount of hours of volunteer service to the city each year. Reserve officers do not need to be pursuing a career in law enforcement and do not need to be a resident of the City of Hopkins.
Duties
Reserve Officer Assignments Include
New reserve officers will receiving in-depth training, both in the classroom and hands-on to prepare them for the requirements of the job. New reserve officers will be required to donate a minimum of 15 hours per month, and all members are required to donate 10 hours after completion of their first year.
Reserve officers will receiving ongoing training in various aspects of their job, such as use of force, medical and fire response, and scenario-based training. Meetings are typically held once a month on a Tuesday and last last approximately three hours. All training required for this position will be provided by the Hopkins Police Department.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include but are not limited to individuals who:
- Must be 18 upon being hired
- Are in good physical health
- Are eligible to work in the US
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent by time of hire
- Have a valid Minnesota driver's license
- Pass an oral interview
- Successful completion of a background check
