What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Supervisor position at City of Hope?
The Hope Park and Recreation Department’s mission is to ensure a safe and friendly environment for all guests to enjoy. The maintenance supervisor reports directly to the parks director and is responsible for supervising the maintenance crew who responsible for providing a clean and aesthetically pleasing experience at Fair Park, Northside, Rosehill Cemetery and downtown Hope. This crew primarily operates out of the Fair Park Office.
This can be a dynamic and rewarding area of work but it may also be very demanding. Maintenance workers may perform their job duties in all kinds of weather conditions, including extremes of heat or cold and also rain. Under the direction of the parks director the maintenance supervisor is subject to be called out at any time. This can include during storms, water leaks, and other emergent factors that may arise. Will be required to work all city events and assist in all little league sports.
Job duties include the following, and are not limited to just these areas:
- Oversee maintenance crew and day to day activities
- Inspect and repair playground equipment, picnic tables, benches and other park amenities.
- Maintain business relationships with external contractors
- Mow athletic fields and park grounds using a zero-turn mower.
- Ensure athletic fields are ready for games and practices.
- Tend to landscaping necessities, flowerbeds etc.
- Keep accurate reports on all maintenance equipment
- Assist the parks director in preparing budgets
Preferred skills:
- Able to follow direction and report to direct supervisor.
- Communication skills within and outside the department.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a CDL license.
- Carpentry and minor plumbing skills will be taken into high consideration.
Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000. Pay will be based on experience and skills. Applications can be picked up at the Fair Park Office or City Hall or online. Closing date October 31, 2025.
