Clean and Maintain City Facilities
We are seeking a skilled Temporary Building Custodian to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance staff, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our city buildings.
About the Job
This is a temporary/seasonal position that requires a high level of independence and self-motivation. You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, shampooing, and spot cleaning carpeting and floors as required by schedule. Additionally, you will clean light fixtures and blinds, dust all public areas, and empty trash from receptacles and remove to dumpsters.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, refill paper and soap dispensers
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, wax, shampoo, and spot clean carpeting and floors as required by schedule
- Clean light fixtures and blinds
- Dust all public areas
- Empty trash from receptacles and remove to dumpsters
- Maintain cleaning equipment and notify supervisor of necessary repairs
Requirements
- At least two years' experience with janitorial work
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments
- Must be at least 19 years old and subject to background investigation check
- Valid driver's license required
Working Conditions
This role involves working in city buildings, which may expose you to dust, dirt, grease, and irritating chemicals. You may be required to wear protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves. The job requires standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping, and frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
