JOB SUMMARY:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accepts applications for boat dockage, discusses boater’s needs and fuels boats.
- Keeps records and prepares comprehensive reports related to marina activities.
- Distributes material and/or messages or notices to boat owners.
- Maintains the marina area, ensures cleanliness of marina and calls Public Works for
- Keeps the general area free of hazards and debris.
- Oversees and participates in the repairs facilities of a minor nature.
- Must effectively and positively represent the City in delivering and performing work with
affiliation or belief, or sexual orientation.
- Must establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues,
- Performs related work as required for this position description only.
The Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. REQUIRED:
Graduation from High School or GED, successful completion of a Coast Guard boating safety course, plus six (6) months of experience at a dockage facility.
PREFERRED:
One (1) year experience at a dockage facility.
Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid Driver’s License: With proof of automobile insurance
- Background Check: Must have an acceptable background record
- Driving Abstract: Must have an acceptable driving record
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of docks and ancillary facilities.
- Knowledge of nautical terms and marine customs.
- Knowledge of supervisory principals and practices.
- Knowledge of Federal customs and immigration laws.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Ability to regulate docking activities at a municipal berthing facility.
- Ability to handle a variety of boats in an emergency situation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates berthing patrons and the public.
- Ability to maintain an effective record-keeping system.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors, managers, and the public.
- Knowledge of computers with Windows 95 Environment and marine-oriented finance software. (Word, Excel).
- Ability to swim.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Examination
Veteran's Preference: An eligible veteran who enters an open-competitive examination shall receive preference points added to the total passing score earned in the examination as provided for in the Florida Statutes. Additional Information
Applicants who are considered for employment will be required to pay $55.00 for the background investigation.
EMPLOYMENT OF RELATIVES: The City of Hollywood has an Ordinance which regulates the employment of relatives of City employees. Effective January 28, 2008, a relative may only be hired under the following additional conditions:
- The relative must have competed in an appropriate examination process as determined by Human Resources and be placed on a civil service eligibility list;

Regularly scheduled non-seasonal part-time employees who average at least thirty (30) hours or more of work per week shall be eligible for the following benefits:
All regular part time employees who average at least 30 hours per week shall accrue paid vacation following their employment anniversary date. Employees shall accrue vacation leave as follows:
- up to seven (7) completed years 60 hours
- more than seven (7) but less than ten (10) completed years 84 hours
- more than ten (10) but less than fifteen (15) completed years 108 hours
- more than fifteen (15) but less than twenty (20) completed years 120 hours
- twenty (20) completed years and above 150 hours
- Part-time employees who average 30 hours or more per week are paid six (6) hours per holiday:
- Part-time employees who average 30 hours or more per week accrue six hours (6) per month in sick leave accruals. The hours paid to the employee will be the number of hours that the part-time employee was scheduled to work on the date they called in sick.
- Part-time employees who average 30 hours or more per week will receive 12 hours each fiscal year of use-it-or-lose-it time off in recognition of the importance of mental health well-being.
- Bereavement leave is provided for the demise of an immediate family member. All regular part-time employees will receive one work week with compensation based upon the average hours worked in the previous 13 weeks.

- Part-time employees who average 30 hours or more per weekand families shall be provided the option of coverage in the City’s health insurance plans. The biweekly rates are as follows:
- Each employee and their dependents enrolled in the City’s medical insurance plan shall have access to the City of Hollywood Employee Health Center, allowing them to conveniently and exclusively access services ranging from routine primary care, urgent care, preventative care, lab work, vaccines, pediatric care for ages 6 months and older, x-rays, health coaching, and much more. All services at the City’s Employee Health Center are free and at no charge to the employee/dependent, with the City paying 100% of the cost of services.
- Each employee shall have the option of completing an annual comprehensive wellness physical through the City of Hollywood Employee Health Center with the costs of the visit paid for by the City, including a comprehensive medical evaluation, ultrasound imaging, cardio-pulmonary assessments, vision and hearing test, and extensive laboratory blood profiles.
- The City's medical insurance covers Regenexx services with copays based on plan tier. Regenexx is a minimally invasive, needle-based procedure that is an alternative to orthopedic surgery. It uses the body's own healing agents, offers lower risk, and reduces recovery times. Regenexx procedures treat a wide range of common joint injuries and degenerative joint conditions, such as arthritis, rotator cuff tears, ACL sprain or tear, and much more.
- Part-time employees who average 30 hours or more per week shall have the option to purchase vision coverage through payroll deductions. Three plans are offered, and the biweekly rates are as follows:
- Employees will receive from the City a “use it or lose it” Health Reimbursement Account annually. The amount to the employee is determined by the employee’s medical enrollment status or if no coverage is elected then it will default to the lowest level. The level of the City contribution will be reevaluated once a year. The levels are: Single or no coverage = $400; Employee plus one = $600; and Employee plus two or more = $1000. This benefit is contingent upon the employee completing a biometric visit at the City’s Employee Health Center. In addition, the employee may establish and contribute to a Flexible Spending Account.
- The City's award-winning wellness program, Hollywood Wellness, offers opportunities to earn incentives such as gift cards (taxable), gym reimbursements, iWatches, BBQ grills, water tumblers, lunch boxes, duffel bags, and other items for participating in wellness initiatives. Hollywood Wellness is powered by specific funding received by the City’s Third-Party Administrator, Cigna, to improve the health and well-being of City employees, and may be discontinued or limited at any time based on availability of funds and discretion of HR Director. Some features of Hollywood Wellness include:
