Provide leadership and direction to playground participants. Assist in organizing programs for children, including physical activities and games, arts and crafts, and special events. Actively interact and participate in the planned activities.
Any combination of education and knowledge equivalent to a high school background.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, participants and the general public.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to interact and supervise the participation of patrons.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Recreation equipment including balls, bats, etc; phone, and copy machine.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, run, sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
- Regular attendance is required to perform the duties of this position.
- Assist in the planning, organization and coordination of activities and special events for a summer playground program.
- Actively lead and participate in the planned activities.
- Provide leadership and direction to playground participants in various activities scheduled.
- Available to work the City July 4th celebration.
- Promote interest and provide information regarding the summer recreation program to the general public.
- Perform custodial work, including sweeping and cleaning of facility work areas and restrooms.
