About Parks & Recreation – Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center

EXAMPLE OF DUTIESWhat You’ll Be Doing:
- Monitor pool areas and activities to maintain a safe environment for swimmers of all ages.
- Enforce facility rules and policies while providing friendly and respectful experience for participants.
- Assist swimmers who need support, including performing emergency rescues when necessary.
- Respond to emergencies by providing first aid, CPR, and other appropriate assistance.
- Work collaboratively with other lifeguards to maintain coverage and safety throughout the facility.
- Complete routine facility maintenance tasks, including cleaning pool areas, locker rooms, restrooms, and shared spaces.
- Answer questions, provide information, and serve as a welcoming point of contact for community members.
- Communicate safety concerns, operational issues, and improvement ideas with supervisors.
- Participate in required training, meetings, and professional development activities.

Bilingual Incentive Pay Available
Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, ASL, or any other language spoken by over 10% of the City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, will receive a monthly 3% premium pay. The incentive is only paid on hours in paid status. Proficiency will be determined by a City-administered test.
