About the Information Services Department
Our work spans two main areas:
- Information Technology: Audio-Visual Support, Computer Support, Network Support, and Telecommunications.
- Information Systems: Database and Website Development, GIS (Mapping) Support, and Systems Analysis.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Responding to user requests and troubleshooting technical issues related to software, hardware, telecommunications, and A/V equipment.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining computers, peripheral devices, and software applications.
- Testing connectivity, implementing repairs and upgrades, and maintaining performance through updates and patches.
- Managing equipment records and maintaining accurate asset inventory throughout its life cycle—from acquisition to retirement.
- Monitoring replacement schedules and proactively identifying equipment needs to maintain adequate inventory and support future hardware refresh cycles.
- Preparing user guides, reference materials, and activity reports to support team knowledge sharing.
- Collaborating with peers across departments to provide friendly, professional, and effective customer service.

- Supporting implementation of City-wide equipment refresh and replacement initiatives.
- Streamlining Help Desk processes to improve response times and user satisfaction.
- Enhancing cybersecurity and end-user education through proactive engagement.
- MS Teams Rooms Hardware Refresh.
- Fixed Printers in Public Safety vehicles.
- Library Conference room Audio/Visual Refresh.
- Public Safety Conference room buildouts with hybrid Microsoft Team functionality.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining accurate hardware inventory and lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience with desktop support, hardware troubleshooting, and client software applications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration Center (including Defender, Entra, Exchange, Intune, Teams, and Planner) and a desire to expand expertise across the M365 suite.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when assisting users.
- Commitment to teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to learn, share knowledge, and contribute to a supportive, team-focused culture.

Acceptable Experience and Training
- High school diploma or GED; and
- Two (2) years of related hardware and software support or audio/video system usage and service experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Licenses / Certifications:
- Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record
- Ability to pass an extensive background investigation
- Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Certification (based on assignment)

Bilingual Incentive Pay Available
Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, or any language spoken by over ten percent (10%) of City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, at a proficiency level determined by a fluency test administered by the City, will receive a monthly premium of three percent (3%) of their regular base pay.
Anticipated Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, onsite at the Hillsboro Civic Center. This position is fully onsite and does not offer remote or hybrid work options, as it provides direct, in-person support to City staff and operations.
