Under the direction of the Fitness/Corporate Wellness Supervisor, assist with daily operations of the fitness floors and track, including, but not limited to, fitness floor orientations and general exercise guidance, equipment cleaning and organizing, and monitoring all fitness spaces to ensure adherence to rules and policies. The Fitness Attendant plays a key role in providing a positive guest experience and ensuring the facility operates smoothly and safely.
This part-time role will generally work within regular operating hours in shifts of 4–6 hours.
Operating Hours:
Monday-Friday: 5:30 am-10 pm
Saturdays, Sundays: 8 am-8 pm
Essential Functions of Work:
Provides exercise guidance to Fitness Floor guests upon request or as scheduled as a Fitness Floor Orientation.
Demonstrates knowledge of cardiovascular machines, resistance equipment, and free-weight equipment to fitness floor guests.
Demonstrates knowledge of basic body weight exercises and stretches to guests.
Completes assigned shift cleaning lists. Spot cleans and organizes spaces throughout shift as necessary.
Monitors Fitness Floors, and Track and Turf areas during assigned work hours, while enforcing all Community Center and Fitness area policies and procedures.
Develops and assists with programs offered in Fitness spaces, including, but not limited to, Fitness Floors, Track and Turf areas, and Group Exercise Studios.
Assists with other Community Center programs as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Parks and Recreation Coordinators, Supervisors, Managers, and Directors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the Recreation and Wellness Center’s programs, policies, and services.
Ability to effectively use RecTrac software to assist members and Guest Service staff as needed.
Comfortable with the use of email as a primary means of communication.
Compliance with training directives established by supervisory and management personnel
Adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local safety laws, rules, and regulations, and City policies/procedures
Exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills with minimal direction or supervision.
Ability to utilize effective communication and de-escalation techniques.
Ability to implement Emergency Action Plans.
Minimum Qualifications:
American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
Previous customer service experience.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
Progress toward a nationally accredited certification in Personal Training, Group Exercise, Health Coaching, Strength and Conditioning, or a related discipline, OR completion of college coursework in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Fitness Management, or a related field.
Previous experience in a health and wellness/fitness setting.
