This position performs maintenance duties in support of department operations.

Salary depends on qualifications.
Manufactures, installs, maintains, and repairs traffic signs.
Installs and maintains thermoplastic markings and legends.
Installs traffic counters.
Installs and maintains paint and other high-performance markings and legends.
Establishes safe work zones in streets and traffic.
Assists in preparing special events.
Removes material from rights-of-way.
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
Attends training classes and seminars.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of the techniques employed in the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices.
Knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Knowledge of city and department policies and procedures.
Skill in the manufacture and installation of traffic signs.
Skill in the operation of such equipment as hydraulic post puller, truck mounted crane, and pressurized air tanks with pneumatic spray guns.
Skill in performing mathematical calculations.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Knowledge of city and department policies and procedures.
Skill in the manufacture and installation of traffic signs.

SAFETY SENSITIVE: This position has been identified as safety-sensitive. The employee in this position will be part of a random drug testing pool. The methodology for choosing the random test subjects is handled by an outside, impartial, third party vendor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed outdoors, where the employee is exposed to traffic, noise, dust, dirt, grease, occasional cold or inclement weather and machinery with moving parts.
