What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Fire Medic position at City of Hiawatha?
Job Summary
Protects life and property by performing emergency medical service, fire fighting, hazardous materials, fire prevention, education, and training duties. Operates and maintains fire and EMS equipment, apparatus, and facilities. Full-Time up to 52 hours a week for a Fire Medic. Hours are not guaranteed and may vary as needed. The incumbent may be required to work days, weekends, early mornings, evenings or overnights as needed. Shifts can be 12 or 24 hours in length.
Specific Qualifications
Certification as Firefighter 1 for Fire Medic applicants, and related training. Possession of valid Iowa driver's license. Fire Medic applicants must have the ability to function as a firefighter, including performing interior operations wearing an PPE and SCBA, and the driving and operating of various fire apparatus. Candidates are required to complete pre-employment, post offer physical, drug screen, and background check.
