What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Automation Technician position at City of Henderson?
The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill two (2) vacancies for the classification of Building Automation Technician in the Department of Public Works. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled tasks involved in improvement of the City’s Building Automation System (BAS), conducts repairs, replacements, upgrades, adjustments and calibration relating to system and networks; works in collaboration with specialized groups, including but not limited to Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) technicians, Information Technology (IT), and external controls vendors during projects and to ensure integration and optimal performance of all building systems; and performs related duties as assigned.

- Graduation from high school or the equivalent
- Five (5) years of experience working with Building Automation Systems, HVACR controls, and related technologies
- Note: An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
- Certification in Tridium Niagara N4 at time of hire or within six (6) months of hire, and maintenance of current certification as a condition of continued employment
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
- Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
- All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by state and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained, and maintained at incumbent’s expense
- Desirable: A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is preferred
- Desirable: Completion of an apprenticeship program as an air conditioning and heating mechanic
