This is a 1716 union position. The hours of work for this position are 40 per week.
This is a grant–funded position renewable on an annual basis. The City of Hartford is not obligated to fund this position upon termination of funding.
- Basic principles and methods of supervising pre-school children;
- Basic health, personal hygiene and safety precautions to be taken in dealing with children.
- Instruct children in games, simple crafts, and various play activities;
- Maintain order and address minor behavioral problems that arise in children’s activities;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents and other employees;
- Work independently and implement instruction
OR
A high school diploma or GED and the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential;
OR
A high school or GED and twelve (12) credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or a closely related field.
Incumbents hired based on a high school diploma or GED and one (1) year on experience must obtain twelve (12) credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Special Education from an accredited college or University within a maximum of one (1) year from date of appointment OR obtain and maintain a current Child Development Associate (CDA) in center-based preschool or infant/toddler settings within a maximum of one (1) year from date of appointment and maintains certification thereafter.
