DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The Assistant Playground Leader- Seasonal is a temporary (seasonal) position and is responsible for supervising the children at the center while implementing program activities and while on field trips. They will be required to maintain the facility by doing light cleaning before, during, and after program hours. Duties will include set-up and clean-up of daily activities, effectively maintaining order and discipline appropriately, and reporting directly to Playground Leaders. Assistant Playground leaders must perform other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain a professional demeanor while supervising children and interacting with adults.
- Must be able to work independently to complete duties.
- Experience working with children in job setting is preferred.
- Make sound decisions when dealing with difficult situations and must be able to make decisions that conform to the policies of the facility.
- Arrive to work on time and assume the responsibilities of the position.
- React quickly and calmly in emergencies.
- Administer first aid and CPR.
- Communicate orally in the English and Spanish language.
- Observes safety regulations and communicates potential safety hazards.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential function of this position, as is the ability to create and maintain professional, harmonious working relationships with others.
Additional Requirements:
- Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending upon assignment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED & EXERCISED
- Supervision is received from the Recreation Supervisor.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
Ability to:
- Work cooperatively with other employees and the public.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum three months of experience in working with children.
Licenses, Certificates & Registrations:
- CPR certified or must be able to obtain first aid and CPR certification within first 10 days of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is regularly required to sit and use hand and finger. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The employee is exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
SAFETY SENSITIVITY
This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position.
