Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or successful completion of GED.
- One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of a variety of mechanical equipment such as camera trucks, wash trucks or closely related experience.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substances abuse policy.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with air brakes and a (N) tanker endorsement or obtain one within 180 days of employment.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Requires knowledge of the terminology, testing devices and related tools used in the electrical field, ability to read blueprints; ability to maintain records and prepare reports as needed.
- Requires working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include nights, weekends and holidays.
- Requires some duties to be performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
