Minimum Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree (preferred) in Government, Public Administration, Project Management, Business, Accounting, Finance or other related field of study.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in preparation of federal, state and private grant proposals and reporting.
- A proven track record of success may be a consideration for this position.
- Requires considerable office management experience, preferably within a municipal government or other service-related organization.
- Requires computer skills that include proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Requires a good knowledge of financial principles underlying State and City laws and regulations pertaining to municipal government.
- Must be able to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must possess the ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures; must be able to coordinate and organize resources in efficient and effective ways to meet goals; must be able to multi-task.
- Requires the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Must be detail-oriented, possess good organizational and follow-up skills, and have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Must be able to create and maintain harmonious relationships with diverse populations.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
