Position Function:
Under the direct supervision of the Head Custodian, performs duties necessary to support the Facility Maintenance Division focusing on maintaining cleanliness and safety in facilities, including offices, parks and recreation sites.
Essential Duties:
Performs duties necessary to support the Facility Maintenance Division to ensure the proper cleanliness, orderliness, and general maintenance of City buildings, facilities, and grounds.- Performs routine custodial duties and tasks such as vacuuming rugs, dusting and wet mopping floors and cleaning glass, windows and mirrors; empties trash containers; fills soap and other dispensers; inspects, sanitizes and clean restrooms daily.
- Work is performed in all interior and exterior locations associated with assigned buildings and facilities. Some work must be performed outdoors throughout the year at city-sponsored special events.
- Responsible for maintaining a cleaning supplies and essential work tools supply lists.
- Responsible for reporting maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Environment:
Duties are performed primarily within an indoor environment or setting. Possible exposure to electrical and chemical hazards; vibration; loud noise; and dust, allergens, and mold. Grounds keeping, and trash and debris removal may result in exposure to inclement weather.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience normally obtained through the completion of a curriculum resulting in either a High School Diploma or GED is preferred, but not required; one (1) year work related experience is required.
- Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
- Ability to work occasional weekends, holidays and night time events and hours of operations.
- Must be able to communicate and present oneself professionally.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently operate tools used to perform duties.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City employees officials, and the general public.
- Ability to take and follow oral instructions.
- Ability to read and understand product instructions.
Other Requirements:
- Must possess a Valid Florida Class E driver's license.
- Must pass applicable pre-employment testing and background and credit checks.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
