Position Overview
The Swimming Pool Recreation Aide conducts activities and ensures the safety operation of a municipal swimming facility. The incumbent also performs tasks related to the operation of the entire Lifetime Fitness Center. The Swimming Pool Recreation Aide will maintain a constant vigil of swimmers; act to save lives, initiate water safety habits among swimmers and assist with the operation and maintenance of the swimming pool. As a swim instructor, teaches swim classes and water safety. Perform routine duties necessary for the orderly operation of a recreational facility, interacts with the public to ensure a safe, pleasant, and productive recreational experience.

High School graduate or equivalent. Completion of Red Cross Lifeguard Program. Completion of Red Cross C-Pro and First Aid Program.
Required Licenses Or Certificates
Current CPR Certification. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification desirable.

- Supervise patrons and enforce pool regulations, insure patron safety, collect fees and conduct aquatic programs.
- Assist in the maintenance of the pool, dressing rooms, deck area and checkroom.
- Take hourly samples of pool water and keep accurate record of same.
- Check and ensure all safety equipment is in working order and proper place.
- Acts as receptionist at a community center providing information regarding classes and programs makes reservations for use of the facility.
- Collect fees, write receipts and explains regulations for use of the facility and equipment.
- Maintains cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas.
Must posses required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Extensive knowledge of basic pool operation, pool maintenance and life guarding skills.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to work with the public on a regular basis in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Knowledge of City and Departmental rules, policies, and regulations.
- Knowledge of standard office equipment and exercise equipment.
- Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees, supervisor and other departments.
