Utilities – Water Division
The City of Groton and Groton Utilities is seeking several individuals to fill the role of Part Time Watershed Patrol and Surveillance, Level 1.
These part-time positions offer 20 hours per week scheduled between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, seven days a week. Typical schedules consist of two 8-hour days and one 4-hour day. Weekend coverage is shared via a rotating schedule. Variations to this schedule may be considered.
The Part Time Watershed Patrol and Surveillance Level 1, under the general supervision of the Chief Plant Operator, Water Treatment Plant or designee, patrols the watershed by vehicle, bicycle, or on foot as required to monitor and protect reservoir properties. The ideal candidate will have a high school education or equivalent, one (1) year of experience in a related water department or equivalent field, and good computer and technology skills. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, be able to safely operate a vehicle, and be generally familiar with City of Groton property lines and watershed/reservoir operations. Training in mathematics, general science, English, forestry, environmental studies, and map reading is desirable, as is a willingness to participate in continuing educational opportunities. The candidate must be in good physical condition and available to work under special schedules, including during severe weather events or emergencies.
