Job Summary:
The Seasonal Library Assistant is a temporary staff member who supports library operations during peak service periods, particularly during summer reading programs. This position assists with shelving materials, preparing and supporting youth programs, providing basic customer service, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming library environment. The Seasonal Library Assistant works under close supervision and is ideal for students or entry-level workers gaining experience in libraries, education, or customer service.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Some high school.
- Experience: None required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists with summer reading programs and related activities.
- Shelves and organizes library materials according to established procedures.
- Provides basic customer service, including directional assistance and general information.
- Prepares program materials and assists with setup and cleanup for events and activities.
- Supports outreach activities and library-sponsored events as needed.
- Maintains clean, safe, and orderly public and staff areas. Performs other assigned tasks in support of library operations.
