- Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our team as Outdoor Adventure & Environmental Education (OA/EE) Assistants! This is a hands-on role where you'll engage the community in outdoor education, adventure activities, and environmental stewardship.
- Assist with environmental education programs and community outreach events.
- Utilize the E.C.O. Bus, a mobile classroom for environmental education.
- Serve as a counselor for teen summer camps.
- Care for educational animals used in programs.
- Support operations at Greensboro City Lakes, including equipment rentals, boat launching, and maintenance.
- Perform routine maintenance and groundskeeping duties.
- Work in varied outdoor environments, including forests, trails, and open water.
This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Will be required to complete and maintain an NC Boater’s License.
- Must be able to pass a swim test.
- Comfortable working around or on open water.
- Basic knowledge of environmental education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior customer service experience.
- Experience in boating and fishing.
- Animal care experience.
- NC Environmental Education Certification.
- Previous summer camp employment experience.
- Outdoor skills such as hiking, kayaking, or climbing.
- CDL License.
