About the Role:
The Crew Member performs installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting activities within the City's water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Assignments may vary based on operational needs, providing opportunities to develop a broad range of technical skills while supporting essential utility operations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of water distribution and wastewater collection infrastructure
- Operate and maintain construction tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Support multiple operational areas and adapt to changing assignments based on departmental needs
- Follow all City safety policies, OSHA regulations, and work zone safety procedures
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public
- Follow written, verbal, and electronic work instructions
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency service needs as required
- Work overtime and adjust schedules to support operational demands and emergency response efforts
- Maintain a dependable means of communication and demonstrate reliable attendance
- Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
- Physical requirements include heavy lifting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and performing physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Must comply with all City of Greensboro safety policies, OSHA standards, and work zone safety requirements.
- Must maintain reliable communication through a home or cellular telephone.
- Must participate in an on-call rotation and be available to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and emergency response assignments as needed.
- Position is Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma /GED
- "OR" an equivalent combination of 3 years of education plus 3 years of directly related experience, heavy lifting in an outdoor construction and maintenance environment.
- Valid Class B Driver's License ("OR" the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date to maintain position)
- 1 year experience with heavy lifting in an outdoor construction and maintenance environment
