Work Schedule: May – September (hours vary)
Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
This position is responsible for maintaining water chemistry across all four outdoor pools and ensuring all facilities are in compliance with all applicable codes and policies. This position will perform water chemistry checks on a routine basis, perform maintenance on pool mechanical rooms, diagnose and correct pool water issues by providing the appropriate chemical dosing procedures, work with the Aquatics Coordinator and pool contractor to ensure aquatic needs are being met. Must possess strong organizational, communication, public relations, and strong leadership skills. Must be able to read comprehensively, do simple arithmetic and complete written reports. Must know how to comprehend and carry out instructions.
Responsibilities and Tasks of the Position:
- Supervise outdoor pool facilities (chemicals, maintenance, etc.) during assigned shifts.
- Make sure that all codes, procedures and policies are followed properly.
- Maintain pool and facility to ensure safety and proper functioning.
- Communicate with pool managers, pool supervisors, and aquatic coordinators regularly to ensure smooth operation of pools and facilities.
- Maintain constant connection with DigiQuatics pool management software, email, and phone
- Administer first aid, CPR and use an AED as necessary.
- Assist in preparation of the pools and facilities for the inspection by the Guilford County Health Department.
- Assist in winterization of all pools.
- Be able to respond to pool maintenance calls in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned:
- May apply to participate in a winter or spring Lifeguard class for staff prior to summer season, to attain certifications.
- Must know how to comprehend and carry out instructions.
- Stronger consideration and a higher wage may be provided to candidates who possess Lifeguard certification, additional related certifications.
- Please provide copies of certifications with application.
- Additional mandatory in-service trainings/meetings will be held throughout the season.
- Required holidays to work: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day.
This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's License “OR” reliable means of transportation
- High School Diploma/GED
- Able to work as scheduled from March through August
- Must be 18 years or older
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with DigiQuatics scheduling and aquatic management software or similar
- Prior experience with recreation management software
- Bilingual
- Two seasons of pool maintenance experience
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification “OR” be able to renew within 1 month of hire
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
- American Red Cross First Aid, CPR & AED certification
- National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF), Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), or state-approved Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification
