Equipment Diesel Technician – Keep Greensboro Moving!

The City of Greensboro is looking for a skilled Equipment Diesel Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of heavy trucks and truck-mounted equipment. Compensation and Benefits:

Estimated Hiring Salary Range
: $45,017.00. - $63,379.00 Full Salary Range: $45,017.00 - $86,195.00 Annually

*** This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.***

Work Schedule
Second Shift, Monday - Friday, 3:30 pm - 12:00 am
OR
Second Shift Monday-Thursday 2:30 pm - 1:00 am
OR
Second Shift Tuesday-Friday 2:30 pm - 1:00 am

About the Role:

As an Equipment Diesel Technician, you will:

  • Diagnose and perform minor and major repairs on heavy trucks and equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently.
  • Follow strict safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Work in varying conditions, including dust, grease, noise, heat, cold, and inclement weather.

What We're Looking for:
  • Four years of journey-level experience in heavy truck and equipment repair.
  • Current possession of or ability to obtain within six months:
    • Class A CDL License with Tanker Endorsement
    • NC Emission/Safety Inspection License
    • Air Conditioning Recovery Certification
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including walking, stooping, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have own tools.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
    • "OR" an equivalency of 1 Year Heavy / Medium Duty and Equipment Experience or Heavy Truck / Diesel Technology
  • 4 years of documented Journey Level experience in heavy truck and equipment repair/maintenance
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Class A CDL License with Tanker Endorsement ("OR" the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date)
  • Emission/Safety Inspection License and/or Air Conditioning Recovery Certification ("OR" the ability to obtain within 6 months from hire date)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or higher in Automotive Systems Technology, Heavy Equipment & Transport Technology or "related" field
  • 5 years of experience in medium and heavy truck maintenance
  • Certified NC Emission/Safety Inspection License
  • ASE Air Conditioning Recovery Certification on Medium / Heavy Truck Series
  • Series. NC Class A CDL License with Tanker Endorsement,
  • Emission/Safety Inspection License and/or Air Conditioning Recovery Certification

Salary : $45,017 - $80,557
