What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Wildlife Sanctuary Camp Instructor - 2026 position at City of Green Bay?
Responsible for instructing introductory youth and nature related programs at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
10 Week Program starting Monday June 8th thru August 21st, Monday thru Friday 8:00 am -- 4:30 pm 40 Hours per week, 10 Week Program
Ability to perform the following activities:

- Instructs, promotes, and supervises introductory youth programs to develop a variety of skills, self-confidence and to teach children about nature.
- Assists/facilitates summer programs including the Summer Animal Series program.
- Works with and handles our program animal ambassadors - including birds of prey, reptiles, mammals, and invertebrates.
- Ensures safety of participants and communicates any behavioral issues to parents.
- Opens and secures facilities. Maintains applicable equipment.
- Completes and maintains required paperwork including attendance forms and lesson plans.
- Follows all policies, procedures, and the philosophy that is set forth by the City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with children and experience animal handling preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience instructing youth nature programs desirable.
- Working knowledge of recreation facilities and programs.
- Skill and ability in effective leadership. Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Some knowledge of principles and practices of animal husbandry and skill in handling animals.
- Ability to plan, organize, direct, and maintain control of activities and children. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective relationships with staff, volunteers, and general public. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
Ability to perform the following activities:
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, squatting, crouching, and kneeling.
- Occasional sitting, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to work in varied environmental conditions.
